WEEKLY
SCIENCE CLASSES
Science for Preschoolers brings the wonderful world of science to children aged 3 to 6 in a engaging and educational way. Our weekly science incursions are specifically tailored for preschool aged children and are a perfect way to introduce science to young children.
We bring our weekly science classes to your early learning centre! One of our missions is to promote a love of learning through science at early learning centres.
Our classes can help young children develop a range of life skills such as:
- logical thinking and reasoning
- planning and predicting
- problem solving
- communication
- teamwork
- listening and observing
- memory and recall
Our Weekly Science Classes start with an interactive presentation. The theory is then applied through fun, hands-on science experiments / activities that focus on a paticular science theme. The children will experience group and individual science experiments.
At the end of each class, parents / guardians are provided with a lesson report that summarises the learning areas and objectives of the class in order to promote further discussions at home such that learning does not end when the incursion does. Please note that our science classes are designed to be an educational session instead of purely being a 'show' or 'performance'.
To book our Weekly Science Classes, a minimum of 20 children or the equivalent cost of 20 children is required. The program includes an instructor and all materials required to perform the science experiments / activities. The cost is $13.00 per child per class (30-45 minutes in duration) with a total of 7 classes per term.
All our science instructors have a current working with children licence and extensive experience working with young children. We also have a very stringent COVID safe policy to keep the children, educators, and our team safe.
Please complete the incursion inquiry form below and we will get back to you to confirm the session details. Once we have confirmed the booking with you, payment is required 1 month prior to the booked incursion date. If you wish to cancel your booking after confirmation, a 20% cancellation fee will apply. Please rest assured that we are offering the option to postpone for COVID related reasons. Numbers must be confirmed at the time of the booking to ensure there is sufficient material available for each child.
For our incursion services, please see our Terms & Conditions.

-
Are the science classes only for children who are interested in science? No. Our science classes are designed to be enjoyed by any child. Young children are naturally curious and science is well suited to learners with a sense of curiosity and wanting to discover how things work, fix problems and just being creative in understanding the world around them.
-
Are parents / guardians required to stay for the classes?Yes. Parents/guardians are required to be present and wait in the foyer or somewhere close by within the premises whilst the class is operating.
-
Are parents / guardians required to participate or assist the child with the class? Our aim is to promote independence through our structured science experiments. This is to mimic a school environment in preparation for the school years ahead. However, we do understand that it may take a while for some children to settle into the classes. If this is the case, parents are welcome to assist the child in the class until their child is settled.
-
Are the science experiments safe for children?Yes. All class experiments have been carefully designed to adhere to strict safety standards. All classes are fully supervised by a qualified adult scientist with a current working with children’s check and a current first aid certificate.
-
Will all the classes have the same teacher?Yes. This is to ensure familiarity for the children. In the event that the teacher is unwell or unable to attend, parents will be notified and either a suitable or equivalently qualified teacher will fill in.
-
Does the child need to enrol for the entire term or can the child attend only a few classes on an ad-hoc basis?Since places are limited, we require children to enrol and pay fees for the entire term. If a child attends only a few select classes, full term fees are still required to be paid.
-
Is a free trial class available for the weekly classes? No. This is because we only have a limited number of places available for weekly classes. Also, we do need to know the final number of children attending the class to ensure there is sufficient material prepared for each child to conduct the science experiments. We do however offer parents/guardians the opportunity to "Come & See" one of our weekly classes with their child to observe a class in order to get a better idea of our program. Please contact us if you would like to "Come & See" a class. Our school holiday science workshops are conducted in a similar manner to the weekly classes in our school term program. This means our workshops can also provide children and parents the perfect opportunity to experience what our term classes are like before committing to our term program.
-
If the child is absent for a class, are make up classes available?"No. If the child is absent for a class, we currently do not offer any make up classes. We hope to offer this service in the future.
-
Is there a snack time for children during the class? No. This is so that we are able to make the most of the time. We ask parents/guardians to ensure children are well fed before the session. We only suggest children bring personal drink bottles of water.
-
Are there toilet facilities available on the premises?Yes. Please ensure the child has been to the toilet prior to the class. If the child needs to use the toilet facilities during the class, the parent/guardian will be contacted to escort the child.
-
How many children are there in a typical class? We aim to keep our class sizes small so that there is typically 8 children per class to ensure each child receives the appropriate amount of attention from the instructor to conduct the science experiments/activities successfully. However, we have set a maximum number of 12 children per class.
-
When are the school holiday workshop dates usually released? Our school holiday workshop dates are usually realeased in the middle of the term. If you would like to be notified as soon as we have confirmed the dates for our popular holiday workshops, please complete the workshop form or contact us.
